Mortgage Agent
Job Summary
Responsible for working on behalf of the borrowing individual(s) and the mortgage lender(s) by requesting, collecting, and assembling and verifying all closing documents required by the title insurance company and initializing loans.
Primary responsibilities
Work with various lenders to find the best deal for a homebuyer or property buyer.
Originate loans to submit to lending institutions.
Act as an intermediary between a lender and a borrower(s) who need a mortgage.
Evaluate pay stubs, credit history, tax information, and bank statements, and other documents for financial status.
Work to ensure compliance with banking and/or finance laws in Ontario, Canada
Coordinate loans in the name of other organizations and businesses.
Verify the income of the borrower as well as gather their credit and other information.
Follow through with the lender and client during the approval process.
Explain the legal aspects of the mortgage to the borrower as well as the payment terms and clauses to them.
Define repayment terms to consumer and educate them on default consequences
Communicate effectively and professionally with clients, lenders, and all allied professionals involved in the client’s transaction respecting confidentiality and legal requirements.
This position is commission-based. Earning potential will vary with individuals and with the amount of time and effort expended. Many agents see their earnings grow as they gain knowledge, experience, and increase their personal and professional networks.
FSRA/FSCO license required or confirmed registration for exam and/or approved course.
