We are currently searching for one experienced Construction Manager
NOTE: This position requires experience in Heavy Civil operations including but not limited to, Heavy Concrete (Foundation; Culverts; Shoring; etc.) works, Heavy railway works. This position is NOT an ICI or Interiors position. People without experience in these operations will not be considered.
Job Duties:
Our candidate will have the following:
•Advanced knowledge of various construction disciplines, safety regulations, scheduling, cost control, quality control, engineering drawings and other documents.
•Maintain and update construction schedules on monthly basis, including delay tracking and changes in work, Primavera experience is a must, must be able to cost load a schedule
•Manage and distribute contract drawings including all revisions and maintain “as-built” drawings for the project
•Daily documentation of progress quantities and monthly submission of progress certificates on a timely basis
•Record and invoice any work outside the scope of the contract and ensure Change Orders are processed
•Maintain all project diaries
•Ensure timely submission of all-time sheets, packing slips, material tickets to Head Office
•Problem solving and resolution of technical site issues
•Maintain a good working relationship with customers, consultants and subcontractors
•Be able to put together cost reporting details on a weekly and monthly basis
•Estimating ability to produce pricing for contract changes and value engineering
Site Coordination
•Ensure contractors fully understand their contractual obligations and project requirements
•Liaise with contractors to minimize contractor conflict and encourage synergy on multiple contractor work sites.
•Identify slow progress, inadequate quality or performance, possible future construction problems and suggest possible solutions.
•Experience with surveying and railway layouts
Construction Monitoring
•Perform / review Safety analysis, including, Preliminary Hazard Analysis, Sub system Hazards Analysis, System Hazard Analysis, and Operations and Support Hazard Analysis;
•Monitor and inspect construction to confirm quality and that the constructed works are in conformance with the design.
•Review and manage technical submittals (shop drawings, RFI’s, RFC’s and work plans) to confirm conformance with design and quality of work.
•Address issues that arise in a timely and cost effective manner.
•Effective documentation of progress through daily and weekly reports (with detailed photos)
Requirements:
•Civil Engineering Degree
•5 years industry experience
•Rail and Track experience necessary
•Foundation experience necessary
•Some experience in rail operations and rail maintenance would be beneficial.
•Safety experience for monitoring and enforcing safety program
•Estimating and project bidding experience, Bid2Win experience mandatory
•Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Primavera and Visio
•Proficient with Autodesk Software (Auto Cad & Revit)
•Proficient in Blue Beam Software
•Experience with eCompliance and SnowStorm computer systems
•Knowledge of CROR and Ontario Train rules preferred
•Knowledge of construction methods from project start through project completion
•Knowledge of Seicon SP7 ERP beneficial
•Must be able to read and understand construction drawings, blueprints, schematics, field drawings, plans and specifications
•Excellent oral and written communication skills
•Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
•Ability to represent the company and project team in a professional manner to Owners, Engineers, Clearway staff and the community;
•Ability to maintain organization and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
•Valid Class “G” Driver’s License
•Ability to work different shifts, day or night and weekends. Not limited to GTA limits

60% office. 40% construction site visits. Moderate exposure to disagreeable elements (such as inclement weather).

High intensity. Occasional challenges that demand higher level focus.
Hour of work:
From Monday to Friday
The shift is from 07:00 am to 04:00 pm
Terms of employment:
Permanent Position from 30 -40 hours per week
